Or Dean knows he can’t get this “monster” go, it’s their job to kill them all. It’s a dirty job but you can’t let your emotions interfere. But he realizes how much Derek cares about his pack, and the humans in it. How Derek’s tried to keep his pack safe by keeping quiet. It’s just these Winchester hunters are too good.

Dean thinks “this might be the call I can’t make,” and Derek thinks “this time, I might actually lose them.”
